About Julian Hasko

 

Julian Hasko has loved the guitar since the age of 12, when he first discovered the instrument through his father and developed a lifelong passion for music. What began as an early interest quickly grew into a deep commitment to learning, performing, and sharing the joy of music with others.

Julian studied guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where he had the opportunity to study under the guidance of renowned classical guitarist Robert Hamilton. Robert's teaching, musicianship, and inspiration played an important role in shaping Julian’s musical development and helped establish a strong foundation in classical guitar technique, musicianship, and performance.

Throughout his musical journey, Julian has shared his playing through recitals, performances, and competitions across Canada. These experiences have given him a strong appreciation for both the discipline required to develop as a musician and the excitement and confidence that come from performing.

Today, Julian’s teaching philosophy is centered around making music fun, creative, and rewarding, while building strong technical and musical foundations. He works with students of different ages and experience levels, adapting lessons to suit each student’s individual goals, interests, and learning style. Whether a student is picking up the guitar for the first time, developing their technique, preparing for a performance, or working toward a more advanced level of study, Julian aims to create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow at their own pace.

Julian also prepares students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examinations, helping them develop the technical skills, musical understanding, repertoire, ear training, and performance confidence needed to successfully progress through the RCM program. He believes that while examinations can provide valuable goals and structure, learning music should always remain an enjoyable and meaningful experience.

Above all, Julian’s goal is to help every student discover their own musical voice, build confidence through music, and develop skills that will stay with them for years to come. His hope is that every student leaves a lesson not only having learned something new, but also feeling inspired to pick up the guitar and continue making music.
